Kindle fire HD is dreadful. Ours gets used for browsing the internet and that's about all its good for.

Had a gander yesterday at tablets in PC World and I see what you mean about the iPad aspect ratio. But the price

Quite taken by the Samsung Tab although not sure why the Tab 2 has higher resolution and is cheaper than the Tab 3.

I don't agree that they are dreadful, Mrs MSeries uses her's mostly for reading Kindle Books, Youtube and net surfing and she thinks it's great. We also used it to stream HD video from Lovefilm to one of our TVs when we are in 'Italy' and for that it worked very well. (We have a better solution for this now). She bought it solely to read her Kindle books and for that she is not dissappointed. She is not interested in Google Books and Apple devices are too expensive and in my opinion vastly overpriced for the functionality they offer. (Sure they might make you think you look cool but that's not for us, cool is so last century)

To be fair the KFHD it's a cheap, low powered, several year old device and intended for nothing more that reading Kindle Books, (Amazon) shopping, kids games and surfing the net. I suggest that most computer uses actually do little more than these activities. Other devices are overtaken it now though.

I don't use her KFHD, it's too proprietary for me, but I think to say it's dreadful without backing up the statement isn't very helpful.

I guess that Tab 2 is an older model that they want to sell off. Tab 3 maybe has lower res. in order to keep the price down. They perhaps think their intended market segment cares more about other features than the resolution while trying to keep within a price range.

The tab 2 was being advertised on tv. Asda have it for £99 at the moment. Sounded cheap for a recognised brand

Rats...was in Worcester yesterday as well. That's a cracking deal. Sadly their website says online purchases are out of stock. Not surprised.
