I have to disagree there Mike I fear, provided the groove is not narrower by more than one ply thickness it does work, trust me!
BTW Mike, finally found a local supplier for the paper based cavity insulation, so I can now move on that job.

Funnily enough, I reached for the knife then decided that I wanted to "pencil it" just in case!

Purely personal opinion PO, I much prefer to use a table mounted router to a free hand one. I find it much easier to control the work piece than the router.

I will try to get better but I think that if I die young(!) then it'll be at the hands of a machine rather than a hand tool ... unless SWMBO stoves me in with a plane!
