Looking for some feedback on a couple of hobby bench top bandsaws. Metabo BAS 261 vs Record Power 250. Thanks in advance.

Save your pennies and buy something 14".
The RS 250, ive had one for over 20 years is a fantastic little bandsaw, and will do rip,cut anything up to its scope size. But the capacity is really quite small, depth 120mm gives a range of operations, but you will find you are wishing for something bigger.
I, for a number of jobs can do away with the upper guide assembly, so i have and its gained me from the 120mm to 165mm depth of cut. Now if it wasnt needed i wouldnt have had to take those steps, and if I ever get a chance I'll replace the 250 with a 350.

But all in all the RP250 is a good small sized bandsaw. It is accurate even on long max depth ripping in hardwood. Cant say fairer than that.

A mate of mine has the Record 250 and has been really pleased with it. When I was doing my research it was on my favourites list, but noted the comments regarding "always go bigger than you think you need", so I ended up with the Record BS300. But in reality I think the 250 would have been fine. Although I note they now do a "new" Sarbre 250 which would probably make a good compromise, and prices seem to really jump as you get over the 250 range?
