Looking at a used meber700 bandsaw, it’s a fair travel so I haven’t seen it person , it looks a proper bit of kit and seems in great condition, weighs 1/2 ton so the weight is there.
Will be used for general woodworking and some resawing.
Anything I should know about with them
Thanks

Are you sure it weighs 1/2 ton ?
For the size machine, it does not seem right.
A google search shows a nice bandsaw - but 500 + Kg seems wrong ? - I would expect more like half that weight

It has h480/w630 cutting capacity, 28” cast flywheels, 4hp motor, weighs 470kg . That’s from manufacturers spec

Meber has a good reputation among professionals.

The weight sounds about right. It has a welded frame after all and though rather solid it is still lighter than the cast irom frames that I am accustomed to.

With 700mm wheels you can use at least 25mm maybe even 32mm blades. Those wide blades are a huge adwantage when ripping and resawing and when cutting the sweeping curves so common in boatbuilding. A wider blade can take a lot more feed pressure without buckling to the side and therefore cuts much faster though the teeths are the same.

I won the saw on eBay last night so let’s hope it’s as good when I collect it as it looks in the pictures .
Thanks for replies

Looks a fine machine and looks to be able to take up to a 42mm wide blade…
Funny a week ago it didn’t attract any bids this time 4 bids
I always look for heavy duty 3 phase machines, they are far more niche and you get way better bang for buck on the second hand market…assuming you have space for them and 3phase power supply that is (y)(y)

Looks in great condition.

Scott and Sargeant have been dealers for Meber for a fair few years (I think), which is an indication of quality.
