Many thanks for all your feedback. I took a trip down to Axminster Tools to look at the Makita. I was surprised by the size of it and it really isn't that portable. Anyway I was seduced by the Axminster TS200 which is big enough for my needs and appears to be a much more robust, and therefore more accurate, bit of kit. The salesman was confident that I would get better accuracy with this than the Makita, which he described as a good site saw, and the quality of the sliding table seems to bear this out. I am currently taking my time assembling everthing and trying to set it up as accurately as I can. I must say this is quite straightforward but very fiddly. When I have used it properly I will give some feedback on the forum. The TS200 is not at all portable so a workshop rearrangement is on the cards.
