Hi,

Just wondering, does anyone own, or used one of these?

I was thinking of buying the Dewalt 712 but on a few sites they say it's been discontinued?, so this Makita looks about the next best one.

I think Makita in general are a pretty good make.

Any opinions.

Thanks

Thanks Roger,

Did you get any feedback from your supplier when you returned it?

Phil

Hmmm,

Think I would go for the Dewalt then, as I say though on a lot of websites say the DW712 has been discontinued?

Does anyone know anything about this?

Any other decent ones for about the £350 mark?

Thanks

Hi Roger,

I'm just after a decent all rounder really, I once had a 10 inch SIP and wasn't that impressed, and boy was it loud, mind I think it was only around £150 so maybe I shouldn't be that harsh on it.

Been having a look at some of the Bosch models which seem to be coming in around my price range.

Phil

I think on Rogers post I said I was surprised how he had trouble with them as I know a couple of guys who have them and I thought they were good saws ssmall and easier to carry than my big Makita ls1013, but I used one again this week and as someone (maybe Roger) said the sliding motion on them is very rough so the bearings must be crap. Not like the LS1013 which is a pleasure to use just not a pleasure to lug around site :(

I use the ls1013 to and never had any problems. smooth as silk... I,m doing some subbying this week to and the firm im subbying for use the saw in question. had a go with one this morning and seemed nice to use..

'twas me and it was bad on all four of them. Glad you've confirmed my findings!

Yeah I couldn't believe I never noticed it when I used one before, it rumbles rather than a smooth slide like my 1013.
