Hi there,

I've searched through all previous threads about jointers and found loads of interesting help, but I'd really like any info, personal experience on these machines please :)

They are pretty much the same machine aren't they?, but the Bosch having 670w vs the Makitas 590w. I need to get a machine very soon and these are the ones earmarked in my price range. Please don't use the 'D' word as Festool is already getting a fat wad from me soon for a router ;)

cheers

Hi,

I have the makita 3901 and can't fault it, but then I haven't played with a Lamello.

Hiya

My choice would be the AEG LF650 which uses the Mafell fence system, bit cheaper than the others list and I got mine on eBay for £99. Love using it, very smooth plunge, noisy motor but they all are and the dust extraction is outstanding even with a simple stand alone vac.

Cheers,

So is the Mafell fence really that much better? Is it reliable for biscuiting mitres?

Ta

Can't comment if it is better than the Bosch or Makita but Mafell are one of the oldest Biscuit jointer makers and up there with Lamello in the quality stakes as well as a simpilar price tag.

I saw this post from a departed member (not dead, just not posting any more) called scrit who was a hugely experienced pro

I based my decision on this and when I found out that AEG used the Mafel fence and adjuster went for that one. The turret stop setting is great if you work with std sheet widths and keeping repeatbility.

Cheers, good info there :)

Anyone with comparative experience of the AEG, Bosch and Makita?

Seriously, I'd buy a Domino and settle for a cheaper router.

Since the Dom came along all biscuit jointers are obsolete in my opinion.

Festool routers are very nice but no better really than the mainstream brands at half the price.

Cheers
Brad

mmm...yeah thats a fair point :? I'd consider getting rid of my morticer and just go Domino, but the minimum width of cut is 13mm on the Dom isn't it?
I'd love for it to be able to go a bit smaller in the width. Decisions decisions ;)

Domino's are good but they don't replace a morticer.
I have a domino and it's great but i still use a biscuiter for a lot of jobs.
As Brad said my festool router is no better than my dewalt ones, I have managed to destroy all makes over the years

Thanks for all the advice :)

I got a domino in the end and will definitely keep my morticer too.
Ahhhh the Domino - I am gonna use this machine to death man!
Lovely

AEG without a doubt.
It cuts from base plate and angle face parallel and has an excellent dust collection bag.
It's the first jointer I have owned that works.

D&M TOOLS had them reduced.
