Atrax fountain pen from Turners Retreat

what looks like dust at the base of the pen is in fact iridescence thats only seen from certain angles

even managed to make a key fob from the small off-cut of the acrylic

Turner were having a sale recently, so i bought a load of half price 'stuff'.... :D

Sooo.... I also had a go at a kiddies Kaleidoscope.... (hammer)

As always..... comments welcomed

Got to admit i wasn't a fan either.... "blah blah blahhh, plastic pens blah blahhhh..." [-( =;

But....!! after having made one or two.... I have to say they really are great fun to do and can look really amazing when finished and now look forward to making them (hammer)

Well turned pen the join between the acrylic and the fittings is nice and clean. This makes a nice little set the pen and key ring and a good way of using your bits up

Like the kids Kaleidoscope.

Beautifully turned pen Nick.

Pens are really addictive. I started in December and am well nd truly hooked. Here are some I made last weekend and a boxed set of slimline pen and pencil in olive.

From the left: slimline acrylic / slimline acetate / sierra acetate / sierra olive / spent 308 cal real bullet olive. The acetate is original pen tube blanks made in France in the 30s, beautiful material and from Vince at The Turners Workshop.

Not worth buying seperate components IMO unless / untill you get into it properly (and you will!). To try out get a few from Vince above or Tony at Penkits UK. There are a number on ebay as well. Strangely, just about the cheapest place to buy is Timberbits in Australia where if you spend $80 AUD they will deliver foc to the UK. Can take up to 20 working days however to arrive.

Quite right Alex :lol: Though not all of them. I've got shell cases coming out of my ears now. My neighbour, and ex firearms trainer brought me a bag of about 80 mixed 308, 0.22 and 303. (Alex sells the shells btw :wink:)
I'm wondering if a cute little ladies pen can be made from the .22 shells. Have you tried Alex?

No but .22 is tiny i have about 1000 fired and 5000 unfired but had some 5.56 but i sold them

i also have some 375. Holland and Holland, 300. Winchester mag, 375. winchester and some 30-06 but they are personal use as they are so hard to get

I think I can get a tube / twist mechanism into a .22 but would need to turn a brass nib to suit. Will give it a go when I get time just to see what happens.
