The hole was drilled with a 25mm Forstner bit, measured with calipers and the spigot turned to match. The 25mm long spigot is a bit looser than I would like for gluing despite everything measuring the same - what have others done in this situation? It's a blind hole and I will probably insert a screw up from the underside of the hole any way.

And please don't suggest turning the spigot down and sleeving as rather too many hours have been put into this project and any further turning is inevitably going to end up in disaster !! :(

Hello,

Apply PVA adhesive to a strip of "silk paper" wrapping paper, and wrap it to the tenon, applying as much required for a snug fit. Let it dry, adjust the size with sanding if required, and bond it into the hole with PVA. It will hold as well, as a "perfect" tenon.

Have a nice day,

Not only a perfect answer but it comes within 6 minutes !! =D>

Many thanks indeed, Janos. There's hope for my masterpiece yet.

Hiya,

If you use a skew and put some shallow grooves on the spigot you will get a tighter fit where the fibres raise around the grooves,
