My Meber bandsaw is on quite a narrow base and things like the Axminster mobile bases don't adjust down small enough plus I worry that one the size of the base would be tippy on it's casters. Any suggestions for one that would be suitably stable but still fit a saw with a 62cm x 35cm base? Needs to either have locking casters or ones that retract so that the base is on the floor when not being moved.

I would make a simple 4 wheel platform that's the same size as the table of the saw and just bolt the machine to that (obviously with the table vertically aligned) - 18mm plywood should be strong enough, or glue a couple of sheets together for strength. Screwfix has a good range of heavy-duty, fairly low profile locking castors. The board size, and weight of the machine, should mean that it's stable.

I’m with Rob, bolted to a piece of plywood larger than the base. I’ve used this approach with the Bora Portamate base kits from Amazon for a couple of my machines.

A set of casters arrived from Amazon today so I went to the workshop and raided the pile of spare lumber. A couple of hours later I have a mobile base.

Loaded the bamdsaw onto it and wheeled it around, and definitely not making ‘vroom vroom’ noises 😁

I then realised that while making it recessed reduced the overall height, I’d forgotten about opening the side door, and needed to modify it a bit.

15 minutes with a jigsaw, a chisel and a plane and it’s all sorted and it could be pushed back into place.
