Near the end of May this year I suffered what they called a mini heart attack. I guess if you have a heart attack & it doesn't kill you it is called a mini. Anyhow I was put through many tests including injection of dye followed by x-ray of the heart. The cardiologists decided they had no choice but to operate because if not it would only be a matter of time & another heart attack would probably kill me. The operation consisted of a triple by-pass, install of a aortic valve, & repair of a hole in the chamber wall. This was done July 31st. Apparantly the drugs used for the operation caused me to hallucinate . I have no memory whatever of the operation plus the week following the operation & Iam told my behavior was bizarre. In Sept. my Cardiologist ran what is called an Echocardiogram & found that my repaired heart was beating much stronger than they expected.....he called it "magic". Iam still on drugs & probably will be for the rest of my remaining life(I'm 83) but they do not have side effects so are not bothersome. I was very fortunate that the doctor who did the heart operation was very talented because there was a very good chance of my dying during the operation. I was able several months ago to have an appointment with him giving me the chance to thank him for giving me back my life. So there it is as to how come I have been "missing" from the forum.
