Hanging by my fingertips
Well yesterday morning, nearly lunchtime in fact - the festering cesspool that I had to call "work" finally went into administration. I'm on holiday most of this week so I'm missing out on the fun so far, back Monday to see whats happening.

:eek:ccasion5:

The relief is un-real, thank **** for that...

Interesting times ahead.

Like the song =D>

Idiot boss is having his car taken away this week, no supercar for him.

Bob,
Shipping container conversions & maintenance - no useful equipment for you to buy really.

BH

Thanks.

Having worked through the threat of redundancy, and currently contracting, so under constant threat of not being required the next week, I can sense how you feel- relief. It isnt nice to be out of work, but at least you know where you stand.

good luck with finding something.

Well then, been offered a 3 month contract with the company that we do servicing for - could become a permanent position if I pass my driving test in that period.

Put notice in this afternoon..

I feel for you, I was made redundant three times in the last 12 years, twice due to the company going into administration. It's sickening to learn that from this moment you are no longer needed and you ain't getting paid for the part of the month you have worked and for the holiday time that you have accrued and not yet taken and no pay in lieu of notice that you are entitled too. I was able to claim statutory minimums from the National Insurance for these and in one case the administrators recovered some of the money the employees were awed from what was left of the business,

Similar happened to us 2.5 years ago, they wound the company up and we had to claim for statutory. Wasn't so bad that time as most had a job at the new place, its all been a bit more complicated this time round.

Hopefully it won't happen again for the foreseeable future :D

No Skills,

I have been made redundant twice. In both cases due to incompetent bosses with big salaries and bigger carts who could not do what they boasted they were doing. The last one was the No2 IT company in the world.

I was very sad, embarrassed, fearful, determined and finally angry at the pineapples. After about 2 weeks of no responses to job applications ( 200+) I simply decided I would find work for myself. Took me 2 days to create a Limited Company, you probably would not need one, and 3 weeks to find work as a self employed consultant with the worlds largest IT company for 9 months. First years was 2x previous salary, second year was 3x salary and stayed there until I retired last month. I worked only 9 months out of 12 but for 12-15 hrs a day.

I think from that I took the following to heart. I faced forward and waved 2 fingers at the old company. I went and found new experiences and new contacts and new work.....I never looked back at the cretins, I had no regrets and after about 3 yrs no fears.....I could a) make a living b) turn down some of the worst work/people mixes and c) take time off when I wanted to.

Go forward. A journey starts with but a single step

Good luck and fortune in your journey.

Al
