I got home from work at lunchtime yesterday to find that SWIMBO had taken the kids out for the day. :D

Into the shop to make a little project I have been meaning to sort for ages. Ever since buying our BBQ I have been cursing the lack of a working area. So, in anticipation of the summer heatwave which has been predicted, I have had an 8" wide plank of 2" thick Iroko set to one side to make a little table.

And here it is

And in situ

Took about 5 hours to build - most of which was in stock preparation. Needs another coat of oil as well.

Next job - get the jet wash out to clean the BBQ

Cheers

What a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon! :D Looks very good, which oil-finish did you use?

Karl - nice...wouldn't bother with the oil, just let it weather naturally - Rob

That looks great Karl. I think I had better watch out or my reputation will be at stake for speed building!

Very nice quick project there Karl. Did you do it all on the Triton?

Thanks for the comments guys.

Pete - No adverse reaction to the Iroko dust. Yet. Machining was via Bandsaw, Table saw, Thicknesser, hand planing and hand sanding. So varying degrees of dust collection. Fingers crossed - i've heard that reactions can come on days later.

Olly - the finish is Tung oil.

Mailee - I think I need to get a few more quick fire projects under my belt b4 I challenge you for your title.....

Matty - The BBQ is excellent. Just wish that i'd built my own instead of paying for a pre-fab one.

Tom - The Triton is long gone. It would have taken me 5 hours just to get the crosscut fence set square.....

Brad - i'll remember the offer of the Domino loan for future reference... :D

Cheers
