I'm thinking of using Liberon Dutch oil for an outdoor finish on hardwood, as a slightly better but still relatively cheap alternative to the No Nonsense stuff.

Currently debating whether to get some foam brushes or just use cotton cloths. Or maybe both? Foam brush to apply, and cotton to clean off excess?

danish oil?

I use a cloth. unless it is a very expensive finish, I dont worry too much. Things like Rubio are too expensive (in my opinion) to lose it soaking in to the cloth so I think twice for those.

word of warning about oil and cloths- when you are done, spread the cloth out and put it outside. they have been known to ignite some hours afterwards.
