Bit of a long shot here, but I need a present for my friend's birthday. The problem is that I'm travelling up to see him later today as we have tickets for Santa Pod.

I'll be driving from Swansea to Coventry through Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye, Tewkesbury and Stratford-upon-Avon.

He's into engineering/mechanic-related things, though he doesn't have much more than socket sets and spanners. He likes to tinker with motorbikes, karts and cars.

If anyone roughly along my route is willing to sell me something he'd appreciate, and is available later today that would be fantastic!

If not, then I'll just have to buy him some Haribo...

Cheers,
Mark

If I'm on route I have this on my desk you can have , I think it's an old valve /tappet link thingy from a F1 engine encapsulated in a plastic block.

Thanks for the offer Chrispy! Google says you're in Wantage, which is a bit off my route unfortunately. My friend's a big F1 fan so that would have been great. Before Googling you, I first clicked on the link to your website and a blank screen with "bad gateway" appeared, just in case you didn't know.

Mr Teroo - by the time get there they will both be closed.

Any unwanted tools or small machines you are willing to sell?

If you are coming near SY23, you can take my neighbour... he's a fking tool.

Do you have pit passes for the pod? if not, buy him one. he'll appreciate that a lot more than a valve lifter.
I first went there in 1971. Havent been back since 1999.
Great place.

MrTeroo - his father runs a garage (albeit down in Devon) so he has ramps.

Bob - the pits are always open, which is what's great about Santa Pod.

Thats good to know, back in the 70's everything was open once you paid the entry fee. But last time I went back I'm sure we got charged extra for the pits.
Ok, youll have to buy him some merchandise for the top fueler. I used to have a "Mr 6" T shirt. wish i still had that one.

And the clock is ticking now.

You've got 364 days to decide what to get him next year!

No excuses next time

Ha! His birthday was on the 3rd but I haven't had a chance to see him until now.

Looks like it'll be Haribo again...

Once drove a bit tipsy onto the Santa pod raceway in the middle of a dragrace in a beetle with a girl holding onto the windscreen. Really.
Cue sirens and security in a pickup chasing us. Understandably...
Slammed on the accelerator. Held the back end. Drove off the track and pulled the motor into a million other vdubs and we all ducked. Cue Italian job celebrations. Mustard. Nowadays. I'm just old.

are there any local karting or off road centres and treat him to a session,
Good idea. He already does karting so maybe an off-road thing. I'll look into it.
