Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can help :)
I 'm trying to find the name of the first slice of a tree when planking up in the round.
I've been searching the internet for that first half bark covered plank for ages (as it's a cheaper option than a proper plank) and can't find the correct term or a supplier.

Ideally I'm after larch and someone that can deliver to London.

Please any help is gratefully appreciated!

Thanks for that!

Is there any heartwood on the other side of that first cut in Larch - I know that Larch has not much sap in it - wondering if the timber from this on the other side could still be used outside.

I'm wanting it to use for the slats to make a cheap fire wood store. Any other suggestions for a cheap material instead would be great too.

Thanks

Should not be any heartwood, if there was they would basically have just cut the butt down the middle!!

For teh time & effort it will save you you may as well just use featheredge,

Jason

Cheers.
Any advice for the cheapest featheredge in the London area?
