Lacewood box pic

Ok, I'll try the picture posting thing, read how to do it in a prior

Half done my daughters kitchen pullouts, 6 done, 6 remaining.
The box has a lacewood top, maple sides, bubinga front and back with rosewood trim on top. The joints are called "boxtail", they are a box joint inside a dovetail. Don't show too well because of the angle of the pic

Nice work - although I must admit,reading the description,I thought it sounded too "fussy" with all those timbers;then I saw the finished article,and it changed my mind - it looks great,the combination works really well
Boxtail joints is a new one on me,but they really add something to the whole piece - add a touch of "lightness" to it,and blend the contrasting timbers together beautifully.

A very similar system.

First time I have seen this joint. Very attractive.
The lacewood top is that veneer or solid?

Martin, yes the Jointech is very similar to the Incra.
By the way, I'm following your post on double dovetails,
I have not tried them yet but have the templates.

Some of the "learning opportunities" (read mistakes!) I have had with
the Jointech include:

Always dimension stock properly (eg same sized, thickness etc)
Clamp firmly in fixture prior to cuts, any movement will ruin piece
Index one side to fence, keep it there for all cuts
Do small climb cuts when close to edge to eliminate blowout
Make certain inlay close to the edge is properly glued-no voids
Ya I've made all the errors!
But after about 20 boxes am now as mistake free as wood allows!

the top is solid lacewood, I don't work with veneer, other than trim pieces. Certainly veneer has its place however.....

Thanks for the info Joe, much as I thought then, i've got to treat it like an engineering job.

If you do try this joint Joe, let me know how you get on, I think it must be the most difficult unless you know any different.
