As the title suggests I am looking for my first scroll saw, but I can't find any cheap/tidy second hand scroll saws for sale online which are local-ish to me (South Wales).

Does anyone know of any for sale, or maybe even want to sell me an old one of your own?

Checked all the usual, gumtree, preloved, eBay etc. and there's nothing. Ideally spend no more than around £60ish, but would stretch a bit more for something better. Just something to start me off, and it's even a tool the OH wants to try herself!! :D

If you are planning to just cut circular cuts similar to a bandsaw but tighter cuts any cheap [NEW] saw will do the job, However if you want do do any serious scroll saw/fretwork do not consider a cheap type saw (lot's are available under different badges, most are the same saw though) A cheap saw will drive you crazy if you do any serious work involving internal cuts.

Thanks Scrimper. So your advice would be to not scrimp?

In your opinion what would be the 'minimum' spec/price scroll saw that you'd consider?

I was thinking more along the lines of something used/better for that kinda price, but thanks anyways Naz.

Hi I recently got into scroll saw work and I went for the Record powerSS16V scroll saw it retails about £119 ish it was possible to get one for £99 plus delivery, but which ever one you decide to get make sure it takes both pinned and unpinned blades, I made that mistake and bought a lumber jack scroll saw for £65 new and returned it because it did not take pin less blades but if you do not want to do intricate work it is it a machine well worth a look at and they have a ebay shop which sells returned and refurbished machines for about £45 plus carriage. But if you then decide to get into intricate work intarcia and bowls clocks etc you may then want to upgrade but then you may want to buy a second machine not to shabby an idea if the OH wants to have a go as well.

which ever way you go good luck an enjoy what you do it can become very very obsessive and time goes on wheels.
