Not sure where to post this.

Is it possible to buy decent quality knives and/or cutlery from anywhere, so that I can make a set with wooden handles? I would like to make a set of steak knives for a present for somebody.

Cheers
Mark

I've been looking, but all the ones I've seen are either poorer quality, or v expensive.

If you find any, please share, but what I'm doing is buying old bone (or bone-alike) handled cutlery, with the intention of cutting off the old, and replacing with wood.

Nice idea - but I suspect that low demand means it's not a normal stock item. However, there is someone you could ask.

This site - http://www.madeinsheffield.com promotes proper craftsman made products including these bone-handled steak knives and forks:

so someone, in Sheffield is making them!

I suggest that you contact the people behind the site - MadeInSheffield Dot Com Ltd PO Box 1619 Broomhall Sheffield S10 2BS 0114 249 3770 - and see if they can help or put you in touch with the actual makers to buy the bare metal parts ready for you to finish off yourself.
