I went B and Q, and they're fine but not inspiring.

If I knew about Space Plugs then I'd have considered IKEA more, but the lack of service void put me off. http://space-plug.com/

What ultimately swung it for me was who did the widths and corner layouts that best filled the space. The B&Q units fit perfectly, IKEA and Homebase ended up with a few 30cm filler panels in my U shaped kitchen.

If you are buying it flat packed, and putting it together yourself, is there really that much difference between buying off the peg chipboard rubbish, and making them yourself out of better quality stock? Especially for someone who knows what they are about...

The difference would be having to drill your own holes - how hard could it be?

Edit: if you write "flat packed" with a hyphen, the swearing police software turns it into "messed". Did we know that? I didn't.

Take a look at https://www.diy-kitchens.com. We are in the process of installing a new kitchen and went up to the showroom last year. They too have a comparision of units and theirs look fairly solid, come pre-assembled and an attraction to us is that they come in a range of colours.
