well there it is in the workshop now , finish wiring it in this morning , whilst in there this morning missed the post( bummer) or it would be connected up to the extraction now ready for use but it will have to Waite till Monday .hc

I've got one just like it, it's superb. You'll be very happy with it I have no doubt.
I'm interested to know what extractor you're going to use with it, and how well it works once hooked up. I always thought it was a bit of a design flaw on these that the airflow through them isn't sufficient for my ADE1200, which doesn't work well with it at all on the standard connections. But recently I've come to think it's probably intended to be used with the high pressure Camvac type. Are you going to split the flow and use both connections, or blank one off?

My system consists of two size pipes which i can separate though a blast chamber with the blast gates either shut or open the 100mm or 50mm , the 50 mm can be seen in pics .

I use the the 100mm side for the planer, saw and sanding machine at the moment , having said that at the moment the work centre saw is connected to the 50 mm ( temp ) my next major purchase will be a new table saw , when i have it then its my intention to connect it and the band saw to the 100mm supply through different blast gates but on the same run .

My system is powered by a record DX5000 twin motors it works fine on the 100mm side as well as the 50mm side when both motors are switch on , i also have connected into it a shop hoovering system as is shown in the pics , i connect a length of hose 7.5m to it where it can reach all of the shop .

when my flexible extraction pipe arrive on Monday the bansd saw will be (temp) connected to the 50mm extraction side till i get the new saw and then it go over to the 100mm side this will then complete the extraction system , which when completed i will post a thread here from start to finish .

I intend to connect either system to both outlets on the band saw and see how good it is and make any alteration that hopefully wont be necessary . hc

One tip which you may already be aware of (so apologies if you do), but I would take the tension off when you are leaving it for any length of time (lever on the back of the machine).

I had been looking for a band saw for a few weeks i had been trawling eBay every day with out success , i had arranged a trip to Devon to visiting some friends and the day before i was due to go (it came up for sale on e bay,) as a returned item (i just typed in axminster ) took a look at it that night , next day whilst we were due to go to Devon and I already had a planned visit at the axminster tool on the way. I bought a hand sanding machine, whilst there, I ask if i could take a closer look at it which they greed to , Once i had seen it I asked if they were open to a cash offer and made a cheeky offer much to my surprise it was accepted on the spot . delivery was three day later to the workshop :lol: :lol: .hc

Best machine I've ever had. Got mine s/h as well, came with three 1/2" 7tpi blades and two 1 1/4" 1tpi blades (look quite scary) have only used the 1/2" ones and a 1/4" newbought from AXM. has seen off everything I've thrown at it so far including 12"x12" logs of cherry.
:? Just fits in under the roof cross beams due to the previous owner fitting wheels to the bottom. (helps to move it when needed though)
I think you're goner like it. :shock:

John i didn't know the blades wear that big for this model, i,m going to axminster on Tuesday specially to get some more blades for it as i only have one 1/2"6tpi that came with it .

I,ve looked through there catalogue listing and the biggest i can find is a 1" 3 skip , are you sure that the right size , I had better make some enquiries whilst there i think just to see what capabilities this machine can really cope with , any one know any thing different please let us all know .hc

I've got a 1" ripper in mine that I got from Ian at Dragon before their demise. I'm not sure I'd ever need to put anything bigger in it, it takes quite a bit of elbow grease to tension it properly and frankly the machine feels like it's had enough when you get there, anyway it's more than man enough for anything that'll fit under the guides. My favourite blade by far is the 3/4" 3tpi M42 from the same source, which will do everything the ripper will do (although a nadge slower on deep cuts) and leaves a better finish. It also has a narrower kerf so there's less waste when resawing. Not cheap now Dragon are no more, but still well worth the investment IMO.

Where are you located Martin?
The guy I got the saw from (Southend-on-sea) got his sawblades from a firm in Wickford, (the address is at the moment mislaid) and the 1/2" 7 tpi blades that came with it are superb, (never seen a 7tpi before).
I do have some slight problems with extraction because this is the first bandsaw I've owned with two outlets, and at the moment I use only one just below the guides.
So until I get a branch fitting, I open it up and vac out the dust inside when I've finished cutting.
What did you mean in your first post when you said you've finished wiring it up?
I just plugged mine into a socket :?

I meant , when mine came it arrived with a 16 amp round pin plug on it so i ask the question here on an other thread ( which way is best) most replies came advising 16 amp and some as advising 13 amp (confusion) so i decided best to ring axminster and was advised 16 amp
(as is also stated in the manuals wiring diagram) although they also said it would also work fine from 13 amp.

wiring plugs shown in pics on the left band saw , on the right going overhead to the Triton work centre (temp) which has a large 250mm makita saw which did trip out the 13 amp regular so whilst wiring in the supply to the band saw i did this one as well .hc

It would be nice for comparison prices and quality of blades if you can recall the address the previous owner got his blades from , born and bread here in Dorset born on Portland and lived in Weymouth since i married back some 39 yrs ago , love it . hc

Couple of tips regarding the band saw, I have mine dust extraction connected to both 100 mm outlets, I'm not going to pretend that the dust extraction is excellent because its not, having said that Its better than nothing.

Regarding the saw blades, unless the quality of the blades has increased significantly I'd stay away from the Axminster brand. I use a 3/4 3tpi from Dragon, unfortunately they are no longer in business, I'm not really sure what else is out there but if I remember correctly Dure Edge had a good reputation.
