Just a thought how about having a section on jigs, we all or most of us use made up jigs of one sort or another maybe we could put them in a section for others to benefit from?

It could be laid out in sub topics Table saw, Bandsaw, Router etc?

Great idea, it'll keep Niki busy

I don't think Niki needs any help keeping busy! :D

Great idea Lee. I'm all for it.

I too think it would be a great idea, but a sub-topic for each machine could mean a lot of administration and many forums, I would be happy for a single sub-forum for all Jigs to go in, and put the machine/purpose in the title to make it easy to browse.

Brilliant idea, there are so many innovative ideas on here and trying to find them when you need them is a nightmare even with the search engine. Think Niki should be rationed to one a week though or it will get to big too quickly

It's possible, but might get rather long for editing unless it is restricted to say fifty entries and then start a new one.

I might point out that there is a jig reference area under How-To Page link.

<TABLE border="1" width="75%" bordercolor="#000000"><tr align="center"><td bgcolor="#FFFF99" align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><b><font color="#FF0000" size="2">Section</font></b></td><td align="center" bgcolor="#FFFF99" bordercolor="#000000" width="60%"><b><font color="#FF0000" size="2">Title with Forum Thread Link or other Reference</font></b></td><td align="center" bgcolor="#FFFF99" class="style4" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><b><font color="#FF0000" size="2">Date</font></b></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td bgcolor="#E3EDFF" align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td bgcolor="#00FF99" align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><font size="2"><b>Hand Tool Sharpening</b></font></td><td bgcolor="#E3EDFF" align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td bgcolor="#00FF99" align="center" class="style1" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><font size="2"><b>RAT</b></font></td><td bgcolor="#E3EDFF" align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td bgcolor="#00FF99" align="center" class="style1" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><font size="2"><b>Router</b></font></td><td align="center" bgcolor="#E3EDFF" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td bgcolor="#00FF99" align="center" class="style1" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><font size="2"><b>Table Saw</b></font></td><td bgcolor="#CCCCFF" align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%" bgcolor="#CCCCFF"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><font size="2"> Joe Bloggs</font></td><td align="center" width="60%"><font size="2">Joes finger saving Jig</font></td><td align="center" width="10%"><font size="1">17-11-07</font></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><font size="2">Dan Tovey</font></td><td align="center" width="60%"><font size="2">Board Straightening jig</font></td><td align="center" width="10%"><font size="1">17-11-07</font></td></tr><tr><td bgcolor="#00FF99" align="center" class="style7" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"><font size="2"><b>Turning Related</b></font></td><td align="center" class="style8" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr><tr><td align="center" bordercolor="#000000" width="10%"></td><td align="center" width="60%"></td><td align="center" width="10%"></td></tr></table>

Good evening Seaco, this is a great idea because we all have something which we are good at and will let us less experienced woodies be able to help those more used to woodworking,as the likes of myself (and others I should think) have to invent ways and means to carry out certain cuts etc when we are not able to afford the ready made jigs from the manufacturers, I hope the moderators take this idea up.

Regards Rich.

Unfortunately I live in the 'back of beyond' (3 miles after God forsaken) and don't know any other woodies, hence my joining this forum, but I use jigs as much as pos and would certainly welcome discussion on the same. We're never too old to learn.

Yes it's a good idea, I like it :) If people can help by sending me the URL's to the jig's thread I'll can add them to the main page here

I'll get the layout and categories sorted tomorrow and then start adding links.. It'll take a week just to go through Niki's jig threads  :p

Great idea, but should we have a section on other forms of dancing --- I'll get my coat
Strictly speaking....oilskin and wellies for me here :D - Rob

Have you got yourself sorted on the Jigs section front yet Charley?
Don't want to start inundating the system with suggested links postings until you are ready.

It appeals to me as well.
Can the post be restricted to just the jig entry without replies?
If there are a half dozen tenon jigs as an example and 30 responses to each one it can take ages to get anywhere surfing on the web these days.

I understand why you suggest this DW but the ensuing threads can sometime add value to the original idea.

How about just indexing on the original post but including a link to the rest of the thread. I think that would serve both needs.
