Hi

I have a jet bobbin sander and it intermittently trips my fuse box.

I've got a great fuse panel, new so that is not the issue

It only does it every 2/3 times it's turned on

Any advice or do I need to have it serviced?

I hope this is in the right section.

Thanks

Adrian

Hi Adrian, do you have the bench mounted bobbin sander or the larger floor standing version?

Is this a fault that's just started to happen with an older machine?

Or is this occuring on a new machine? If so, how old is it?

If it's a brand new machine you should contact the retailer you bought if from as it's still in warranty and they may want to check the electrics/switch etc.

If it's an older machine and this has recently started to happen then it suggests an excessive load on start up so it may be motor bearings/circuit capacitor etc but difficult to guess without checking - these sanders are pretty bullet proof over time so I'd suggest contacting the retailer you bought it from and taking it from there.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can help further
Cheers

Hi

Thanks for the replies

It only trips when turning on
It's not got an rcd at source but on fuse box
It's not new, who would look at it?
I'm in the Manchester area

Thanks again

Is the rating for the mcb/rcd high enough? Which planer do you have?

I have a Jet 1100w chip extractor which tripped my supply about one in 5 times. The draw at startup is much higher than the running amperage, this is where I had it protected with a 16A mcb. When this was replaced with a 20A mcb it has never tripped since (six months).

Hi

I've fixed the problem, well I think I have.

I've just had the fuse upgraded as my electrician was around doing another job.

He took a look and no there is no tripping!

Thanks for al your advice

Adrian
