Hi Guys,

I have an issue with my tailstock on my JET 1220 lathe and it has to be sent back to the manufacturor to be fixed. It will take about 12 weeks to get it back and I don't want to wait that long as I have projects that I want to work on.
Does anybody know if any of the makers tailstocks will fit the Jet lathe I have?

If anybody can shed some light it will be much appreciated.

Regards,
Johan

that isnt good news. is it under warranty- can you persuade them to replace it rather than repair it?

Well I suppose you could buy a rotary table tailstock, pack it up to the right height and improvise some fixture to the lathe bed...

...but it'd not be a cheap solution or be particularly effective IMHO.

I'd suggest that if you have a chuck then temporarily restrict your turning to items not requiring the tailstock - bowls, boxes, goblets etc.

If you require it just to turn between centres a big block of wood with revolving centre mounted in it and a G clamp or similar to clamp it to the bed perhaps. This all a pole lathe turner ever uses.

Would not be happy with the turn round time for repair if it's under any form of warranty, smacks more of trying to put the job off to me.
