For a couple of weeks now I get an occasional popup saying Java update available click here.

I have ignored the suggestion, ticked the cross and it reappears and I do the same and I get peace for a few days.

I am ignorant of Java, do I ignore or follow the suggestion or is it a nasty?

You can approve the update. It is safe and allows minor improvements.

I you do not have Java on your PC then allow the install for the reason given in previous posting.

Thanks Old, I'd completely forgotten I had this pop up before.
Looks like another update.
I'm very wary of updates these days, I did a bios update because it was recommended and ever since everytime I boot up I get driver error and have to click F1 to continue.

I installed the java update, but I think it was really after me accepting something to do with Google emails etc.
So I refused that part and it did its own thing and said it was happy!

Remember you can go back to a set up before the faulty driver when everything worked correctly its a part of windows xp & vista, just the op system data stays the same but the java update will come back again.

Problem I think Old is that the faulty driver is on the motherboard update I did and that is not windows so I cant see how to correct unless I have a muck about in BIOS. At the moment when I boot up I get the motherboard window,(MSI) told to click TAB and then it lists BIOS where faulty driver is mentioned and gives me the option to press F1 to resume.
So as things work(in a roundabout way) I live with my sins until the day of reckoning.

I did try the system restore at the time (around a month ago)
