A mate of mine (kitchen fitter) turned up with one of these on its a few weeks ago. Brand new, never been used.
He fitted a small flush trim bit and proceeded to edge up a board that he'd laminated - after about three seconds it started whining, then smoking and finally bang!! The clear plastic guard was in about thirty pieces and the router bit had gone - completely. We found a bit of it in the ceiling later on.
I hope yours fares better but be sure to wear full body armour when trying it out for the first time.
It did come with 3 bits one of which was a flush trimmer. They looked like they were out of a Christmas cracker, I put them straight in the bin. Maybe it was one of those that let your mate down?
