This latest version for the Mac is getting a hammering on the forums for being unacceptably slow. My advice is to avoid upgrading until there is a patch.

Also it goes through your existing library doing something or other with 'gapless albums' - no option to say Yea or Nay and no information that I can find as to exactly what it is doing. Since my iTunes library is full of classical music I am a tad concerned to say the least. Currently desperately trying to get back to version 8 and with my library intact.

On the classical theme, the 'what's new' in iTunes 9 boasts how they have made things better for classical music enthusiasts. If anyone can actually understand what they're saying/have done then please let me know.

I am rapidly starting to go off itunes to be honest. It has taken to doing what microsoft does and wants to run everything in my life whether I want it to or not. I don't need to sync all my computers via my ipod. I like the order of my playlists as they are. I don't want itunes to arbitrarily decide whether a tune is classical or not and give it an automatic classification as such. In short, I want itunes to play my music and thats it. I certainly don't want to have to go through a million menus and helpfiles to try and get thing the way I want them ie the way they were before itunes came and messed them all up again

Steve.

I stopped upgrading iTunes on version 7.4. The version I run does everything I need it to do and nothing else. It recognises my ipod Nano, it plays music and it provides me with a useful music database on my computer. I have a mix of genres of music, including classical all of which it copes with just fine. Why fix something that's not broken?
