It's more expensive, but I'd go for the Veritas one, I've got one of these and they tend to rock a bit and wear a channel in the stone. The veritas has a much wider roller.

Someone paid £13.00 + £1.75 PP for that.
It can be got for £10.30 most places. Other makes ( Clones) sell for £3.20 to £ 4.50 anywhere. There's one born every minute

I agree with the Veritas comment. Long term it's a wise investment even if it seems expensive as a one-off purchase.

All of the cabinet makers in our workshop use them (with water stones) and have found that they are the very best combination for truly sharp chisel and plane blades. Anything else is a compromise.

You can live without Lie Neilson planes and other such expensive hand tools but you can't live without a Veritas honing guide!

I only posted this link to help others, not to pass judgement on its merits! I own the Veritas myself but have not used it for more than a year and a half since learning to sharpen free hand. If it can be had loads of places for less money, good news. The other link may help others to set up angles if they already own similar guides.

Sorry, I did get a bit carried away and sounded rather like a Veritas advert!

 Had a little chuckle at that thought!

Cheers
