Someone always knows the answer - last winter my union grad on a couple of occasions got a light coat of rust probability due to condensation (kept in the shed/double garage no heating) this was cured with WD40 and a rub down. Since then I've bought iron topped bandsaw and startrite saw bench - I'm sure someone recommended a wax for coating iron on one of the articles can any body remember what it was ! or can recommend a non oil covering for iron tops. Thanks for any replies Fred.

Any non silicon wax will do as will Liberon lubricating wax, Boeshield, Shield technology Products

Renaissance wax or the Chestnut equivalent is what I use. Just one less type of wax polish to buy and to keep in the workshop.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance_Wax

"It is widely recognised that this substance is more protective and longer lasting than oil, especially for swords and helmets that are frequently touched by human hands.[1]"

Would something like lithium grease be a good option as a prevention? I only ask because I have some lying about.

Hi

Only for parts that will not come into contact with the wood you are working
