I had laid the decking for the clients and they asked if I could make them a table and bench. And I said Yes.

It's 4.2m Long by 1.4m wide and took 4 guys to install it. The clients have said they've had 22 people for dinner.

Enjoy.

8) Oh yeh nice and big. How did you finish it? Or Au Naturele?

Bet you didn't join those boards with a hand plane!

You must have a nice workshop set-up - how about a tour?

Cheers

Karl

Edit - forgot to say - lovely work!

Edit again - just seen your other thread.

Always Au naturale, never found anything that can give me a good weather protection. Besides Iroko looks so much better once aged in the sun.

The work shop is nothing special, Bench and some tasty Festool kit and a sofa for the dog. Anything huge can be done off site and I do all the detailed work from the workshop. Amazing what you can squeeze into a 5m X 6m room.

Thanks guys.

Very nice. :)

You must have one heck of a planer to straighten those boards! With its interlocked grain, longer lengths of iroko can be all over the place, if you don't get to pick out your own boards.

hi

one question , why only one bench seat ?, you could never seat 22 on that .hc

That's what the client wanted. I did suggest two half size ones that they could move easily but for some reason they said No at build time. They have since come back and asked for two head chairs and two double bench's.

Struggling a little with the design of the two head chairs as everything I come up with looks like a knights thrown.

hi

head chairs :?: , hmm i'm looking at the frame work under the table ? things like, the garden furniture it's beauty has clean cut lines, keep them simple same pattern as the rest , i see low backs as well , don't vary ,hope it works out ok for you , please keep us posted .hc

ps interesting design here, excellent quality work . 8) 8)

I'm seeing the same. A low slightly curved large solid back with possibly a little more detail in the legs for the head chairs.

hi

low curved back yes , i 'm looking at the shape of the feet on the end of the bench seat , head chairs, with three of these, one either side attached to the seat but comtinuing up through the seat forming the arms above the seat, the third at rear of chair likewise continuing upwards whilst attached and then forming the curved back, maybe join arms and back or keep all three seperate from each other. just a thought hc
