This is a work in progress with photos of a recent intarsia project I am doing. Here is the start of the project with the plastic sheet on it being cut out on the scroll saw. Using a plastic sheet was something new I tried. The plastic sheet didn’t work very well as dust collected underneath and I couldn’t see the cutting line.

Started this at the end of November.

This has been a good learning curve for me as it is the hardest one I have done so far and there was a lot of new elements I had to get my head around. The nose proved difficult for some reason and I had to recut this 4 times to-get it to fit and look right.
Well it’s finally finished and a coat of varnish applied and I’m pleased with it. I know to a few mistakes on the project but I enjoyed doing it and the mistakes will help me with the next one.

Tried to upload more photos but they are not showing up in the preview after posting two pictures. Will put the following photos in another post. They are also posting sideways for some reason.

Loving the progression of the WIP - thanks for posting.
Never tried intarsia but it looks like you are having a lot of fun.

Sorry for all the post but I couldn’t get them all on one post.

The final photo of the finished lion cub from a Judy Gale Roberts pattern. It’s not as shiny as it looks here. It was the light in the kitchen. Took me a long time to do but really enjoyed it. Onto the next one now. Hope you enjoyed the post.

Hi silversam. Nice work & finish, great WIP pix. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the comments. Pleased you liked the post. I will try some more detailed wip photos on another project that I do. Half the time it’s trying to remember to take a photo before you get too far along with it. I’m really enjoying the scrollsaw and constantly looking for designs to do. Time is the problem. Not enough of it to get more done. Work gets in the way of having fun lol. I look forward to seeing other people’s work on here as well.

Hi, really interesting to see the project step by step, then the finished article. It looks great you must be quite chuffed with it.
George

Thanks. Yes I’m happy with it and it’s now on the wall in my hallway. I am already started on 2 more projects and taking pictures of the progress. Will post these When I get further along. Too cold this weekend to go in garage with no heater. One of the project involves some inlay detail and I have never done this before so I am watching vids on utube and practising the technique to get it right. Good fun. I also have another idea I want to do after these two. I’m planning way ahead lol.
