Induction Hob Issues

I am taking the opposite path. I have now had 3 induction hobs fail in 12 years. They are not cheap items and I want them to last longer than that. My next hob will be electric ceramic.

... We currently use a 2 ring portable induction as the fitted cooker is electric ceramic and I hate it with a passion. Will never go back to using anything else now.

Likewise - the one in our last house was electric ceramic (not chosen by us) and both of us vowed never to have another.

I have no plans to change my gas hob, but if I did, I need to check something that has arisen here;
We put all our pans through a dishwasher, because they are all stainless.
But what happens to MAGNETIC stainless pans when they are dishwashed? Do they go spotty all over?

I wondered whether anyone more electrically minded than myself could shed some light on induction hob issues I’m having. We installed a new induction hob and bought appropriate magnetic pans, although the performance whilst perfectly functional has been disappointing.

To give some numbers; the hob is a 7.4kW model, with each of the four rings having 2300W but being capable of delivering a 3200W power mode. The power mode takes almost 4 minutes to boil 500ml of water.

However, I also own a cheap portable 2000w single induction hob and different magnetic based saucepan for use in the workshop. Both pans (new and old) heat up 500ml of water on the cheap 2000w hob in around 2 minutes. Equally, both pans take near 4 minutes on the new 7.4 kW hob. As the saucepans perform similarly, this would seem to isolate the hob as the cause.

We had the hob professionally fitted and a new circuit was supposedly added to cope with the power requirements. I’m left slightly bewildered that a 2000w ring is boiling the same amount of water as a 3200w ring in half the time.

Any ideas what could be the cause? Or perhaps I’m overlooking other variables.
I know it’s a long shot as this thread started 6 years ago but did you ever get a resolution to your hob issues? We have just had a new kitchen put in. We have a single ring portable induction hob that is really good. Boils a pot of water in 2 minutes. The new kitchen has an AEG induction hob and it’s rubbish in comparison. It takes nearly 5 minutes to build the same amount of water in the same pots.

Normally better to start your own post rather than resurrect very old ones.

Have you compared the specifications, 1Kw of energy is 1Kw of energy so is your new hob a lower wattage than that old one ?
