I've often read on photo forums people dropping by and hoping to do this and asking for the same advice.dickm":2oppfb1n said:I've been thinking of digitising at least the worthwhile images from 50 years with a camera
The reality is that scanning film/negs is hugely time consuming(think half an hour for each shot to do well) and the vast majority of people will quickly give up after a few days. You can speed things up with a scanner that automatically removes dust spots and with loads of ram to allow the scanner to run at it's maximum speed (16gb+), but it's really dull and boring.
The Epson V750 is very well regarded, but not a cheap option. Can any of the flatbed scanners do an adequate job on 35mm?
The Canon 9000Fii and Epson V550 will do a reasonale job for many purposes.
You might find this is actually the best approach and won't necessitate significant expenditure.a lashup with macro lens on the Pentax DSLR and some downspout tubing works at a pinch!
There are also a few businesses that will take all your photos and scan them for you at a cheap rate, based on cheap Indian labour. I've read good reports of the service, but it's not quick and personally I wouldn't want to send all my photos off to foreign country in that manner, YMMV.
