Ideas Requested Please - 50 year Timeline

Hi Guys,
Next month is my parents' golden wedding, and one of my tasks is to hang a line in one of the rooms with pictures of notable events from the last 50 years hanging from it.
As I missed quite a few of the early years, I was wondering if any of you wise people could come up with ideas for pictures/photos that I could hang.

Go to the Yahoo homepage, type a year into the search line and above that box there is a list of search options, 'Web Images Video Local Shopping More'. Just click on Images and then Image Search at the end of the search box and it will hunt out pics associated with the year you want. I tried it for 1957 and lots of pictures came up.

I was only 4 in 1949 ,only thing I remember was a, No! No! No!
I didn`t think my parents could talk much more then that???
The 1949 Ford came out with the Rocket ship nose on the front of the car...and boat tailed the other end.really streamlined the look from boxy to sleek..

There is a book called Chronicle of the 20th Century which gives the most memorable things that happened in each year.

It is available from Amazon if you want to buy one but it should also available from your local library, probably in the reference section.
