Ideas and thoughts on casting lead pigs for leaded light glazing bars.

Simply put I would like to do this but one at a time will be sufficient for now.

It's fun. But beware - lead dust and fumes can be extremely toxic. Even if you are melting and casting lead outdoors, you still need to protect yourself with a respirator.

Looks very efficient! I wondered how it was done - I thought it might be rolled.
There's an advantage in doing multiples in that a lot of molten lead stays hotter longer than a little, so it might be easier to manage.
I've cast lead sash weights, quite easy - a wooden box with soft sand - press a wooden mould of the weight shape into it (horizontally) then pour in the molten lead. Soft sand holds its shape if slightly damp. Not too damp or it starts popping.

It is rolled or milled in a lead mill or glaziers vice after it's been cast to create the finished calms.
This vertical type of set up is what I want to replicate as sand would have to be remoulded every time.
