I originally thought "why do these guys all have so many routers, its just daft" and then I seem to have accumulated 3 routers myself, dare I say i'm considering buying a trimmer as well, where will it end?
To add my advice in, I recently bought a TRA001 triton router and its frankly superb.
Its very quiet compared to my other cheaper screamy (as in loud) routers.
It comes with the handle so you can micro adjust the height through the table, also its worth mentioning that you can also change the router bit from above the table because it raises high enough, the spindle lock automatically engages and you can easily change the bit with the one spanner provided.
The router comes with two mounting t bolts in the base with tightening knobs which you can use to easily mount under your table. Just loosen the knobs and twist to remove.
I seriously considered the festool routers but given that I could buy the tra001 for just under £200, whereas the equivalent festool was over £600 without all the accessories (when you add those in it ended up at more like £850) the cost was a massive factor. But more importantly was that when I tried both out, I couldn't discern 'enough' of a difference to warrant paying 4 times the price for the festool.
To qualify this, I have other festool tools and they're brilliant, but I only bought them because they were worth the extra money. The domino as opposed to biscuit jointers, dowellers etc.
The smaller triton routers also felt just as good as the big TRA001 so I am seriously considering getting rid of my current quarter inch routers and buying the other smaller triton ones instead. I just wish they did a trimmer router.
Anyway I hope that helps somewhat.
