Don't be silly. You need a honing guide, it's the obvious answer.
I suggest attaching it to this (the Veritas MK. 2001):



30 times back, forth on the pavement. Then drive it to Wales for the final hone on a slate bed, around 6,000G.

That wouldn't work! The blade would be covering the windscreen as you drove to Wales!

(It would plane off the road surface nicely, though!)

Brilliant! I love the way the whole town turned out to see the show, although the shavings looked quite thick and the surface a little rough. But the cheesy Europop backing is compensation enough. :lol: :lol:
