A Recent topic relating to caravans reminded me of something I've been meaning to do for a while now.

I need to replace a small veneered panel in my caravan (intend to change plug sockets and original will be no good) but i have no idea where to look.

Tried where i got the caravan from but they are no longer a dealer for my make so weren't really interested.

Also, as a newbie woodworker, is there a site to help identify wood/vaneer types as I'm hopeless with that.

Have you tried a caravan breakers?

Use google to find one that has the bit you want.

Being a caravan is it veneered with real wood or is it a wood grained foil/laminate?

Unless very old it will almost certainly be foil.

What make is the van Mark and is it a static or tourer?

Great veneer link btw Custard. =D>

Good idea. My van is in storage but will take a pic next time I swing past.

My van is not a particularly common one (see below) so very few to be found in caravan breakers. The same material may be in other makes, but I wouldn't know which ones.

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I have no idea. I've had almost nothing to do with veneer in the past and didn't really know there was foil versions out there.

It is a tourer. It's a 2011 Adria which are made in Slovenia.

Cheers for all the help guys, appreciated. I like to modify/alter my van so it better suits my families needs but won't do it unless it's done right.

Not as rare as you might think Mark, they've been around a long time in the UK.
I was a regional manager for ABI in the late seventies and they were being imported by specialist dealers back then, from the Adria factory in Belgium mainly I think. We operated a solus arrangement with our dealership but allowed them an additional brand which we considered not direct competition and sometimes that was Adria.

It is almost certainly a foil type veneer though not impossible real wood but there are or were Adria owners clubs around and I suggest you do some serious googling as they are always very knowlegeable and will help. You could also email Adria manufacturers giving the year, model and serial number and I bet they would give you information, might even point you to a dealer with veneer stock.

cheers
Bob
