A late friend told me he was walking down the street one day during WW2 (he came from Lancashire, so it was up that way somewhere) when he heard an organ playing Widor's Toccata. He rounded the corner to see the church with its roof blown off - the organist was still playing.
Strange Bod that I am, I used to quite enjoy listening to Nigel Ogden's "The organist entertains" on Radio 2, every Friday night as I was delivering curries for my mate's restaurant in Billericay.
The enthusiasm and knowledge the chap had was amazing!
Recently had the pleasure of attending my daughter's graduation at Westminster Cathedral. The organ there is pretty impressive. The low notes especially reverberate right through you!
