Hi people

this is my 1st post on the turning section

and this is my 1st (of many question's)

let's say if your doing a table leg for example.

how would you get all four legs exactly the same, maybe a jig?

thanks in advanced

Hello, and welcome to the spinny bit

Probably the best way to make several pieces the same is a rod or a template - I sometimes make the first one of a batch as the reference piece, and use that to copy the measurements for all the others.
Several sets of calipers are handy for replicating measurements;an easy alternative is a set of open-ended spanners.
Measure to a relevant point on the timber, and use a parting tool to reduce to the right diameter (this is where it's useful to get the hang of using a parting tool in one hand, whilst measuring with the caliper/spanner etc. in the other )
Repeat for other points on the piece, then join them up as required.

Hope this makes sense :D

Andrew
