It sounds like the fit can be a bit fussy on some benches.

I'm not convinced fit need be an issue - I use mine in the top (4") and in the sliding deadman (2") and they are fine from one to the other. The holes are all 19mm.
By the way, has anyone seen the new Benchcrafted ones (on their blog I recall) at a cool $190 a pair.
