Sea fishing for me deep sea and maintaining the boat a 24 feet hardy we fish mainly in the shipping lanes of the sussex coast , sometimes closer to france than the UK.
Also gardening I have 6 1/2 acres of garden which needs looking after and two lakes so loads of grass cutting in the summer .
Then there is the workshop.

Hiya John,

Do you have a 48hr day by any chance. Love the boat, mine's a Seamaster 27, mainly inland rivers etc, more picturesque. We, my mates and me, used to go all over the place fishing, and used to try to book a Lochin 33, love 'em.

I enjoy the following pastimes;

Snooker (Friday evenings)
Golf (Sunday mornings)
Pipe smoking (all the time and especially the third Wednesday in the month, when it is time for pipe club...yipee)
Chess (most evenings on the computer)
Music (playing my tenor saxophone on Friday afternoons and during the week)
Beer (I like this all the time)
Woodworking (Saturdays, and odd evenings)

It is important to have pastimes and hobbies, better than wasting time in front of the telly watching rubbish.

'Cept for watching Norm - All Hail Norm!

Speaking of the bearded one - haven't seen him on the box for a while.
He`ll be shootin a few more videos Probably....

Enjoy woodworking but it's borne out of necessity more than a hobby. I seem to have a lot of things I like the idea of but, when it comes down to it, the motivation seems to dry up. It's very frustrating.

I do seem drawn towards using the internet but often don't have anything I need to do. I think this best illustrates the source of the problem - I need a practical application and can't seem to do much for purely for enjoyment.

I do enjoy flying kites but don't do it very often these days.

Used to do a lot of sea fishing, from the shore and from boats. Woodwork. Eleven years of archery until I started wearing varifocal glasses which definitely did not go well with the sport for me. Woodwork.
Photography all the time if the mood takes me but I no longer have a darkroom. Woodwork (spot the theme, here?). Walking the dogs.
Cars, once, but they are just a necessity for me now. Woodwork.
Mending things that should work but are struggling and.........woodwork!
Oh, beer and red wine but not together!

Cheers,

SF

In the days before children, I used to do a lot of photography. Got quite into it. Built my own darkroom and even gained an LRPS from the Royal Photographic Society in Bath. Always black and white, non of this colour nonsense! Did quite a bit on 6 x 6 format as well as 35mm.

Started in computers after giving up photography, learned to program and eventually turned it into a job. At that point it ceased to be a hobby!

Now I do woodwork (of course) and I ride my push bike, although I must admit I am a bit of a fairweather rider.

Used to do photography - Black and White and colour processing which I enjoyed more than taking the pictures! Gave up due after a while - not sure why, just came to a natural end!

Did .22 rifle shooting until the law took the fun out of it and the ranges started to shut down!

Then the 80's recession kicked in so ended up in a run down bungalow that needed a lot of work - large overgrown garden both keeping me busy and skint for the last 12 years! :?

Only just been able to build the workshop and do some turning!

Also do a bit of N Gauge model railway - not into trains as such, just like the modeling with scope for electronics, sound effects and animatronics - each a hobby in itself!

And then there is my 'frog eye' Ford Scorpio (hence my web site) of which only 124000 were made - that keeps me occupied now and then as I service it myself as Ford know less about it than the owners club!

O and got an electric guitar as you do in your 40's  but can't play any more then two cords badly!

In between my woodworking I have started to make a clock on my tiny Emco Unimat 3 - it came with lots of extras including 3 wheel cutters so had to put them to good use!

Cutting 3 brass wheels in one hit, 2" diameter, 96 cycloidal teeth - the wheels are painted in red oxide to protect and to aid marking out. The perforated wheel at the end is a Dividing Plate - kindly lent by a friend. The Detent/indexing contraption at the end is mine - crude but it works. Arbors in mild steel for cutter and wheels - made to suit.

Also interested in photography, computers, analogue hi-fi.

D'ya know John, I could sit and talk sea fishing all day long, but woodworking gets in the way. I must admit, wreck fishing was my favourite, we'd travel miles to a good wreck, and found that the old wartime wrecks just off the coast of France were always the best producers. Either that, or just off the Isle-o-wight for the Tope, had some good ones down there.
