Can anyone recommend a cheap source of decent cabinet door hinges?

"The boss" wants the kitchen tidying (not that I can see owt wrong with it!).

Have got the new doors & handles in the B&Q sale but want soft close hinges.

"Cheap" and "decent" rarely go together in the same sentence when describing practically any hardware, IME. The quality of the hinges affect not only the longevity, but the overall "feel" to the whole thing. I'd use Blum or Hafele sprung clip-ons, together with the soft-closers that fit onto the hinge plate itself - like these. :)

Jim.

If your old hinges are ok, you can get a soft close mechanism that screws over the hinge plate on the door & turns the hinge into soft close.

Personally I've only ever used blum, they are the best in my opinion.
Depending where in leics you are i know some good suppliers.

I'm south Leics, so if you're nearer town you will prob not want to travel out this way.

Got all mine from Ikea too. Understand the reluctance to go and get them though :)

They did not fit on the existing holes in my kitchen carcases. Ikea use a mounting plate that has the holes about 1/2" different distance to the cabinet edge. maybe a bit less as the plate hid the original holes when fitted. The plate is in the blum online brochure but can't remember the part number.

Anyway the quality is there and having made a jig the re-drilling was easy and meant all the holes were new and strong.

I have to confess to getting mine at IKEA too. Blum hinges for £1.00/pair when I bought mine and the store is only a couple of miles away from home. I'm pretty sure they now do soft close kit kit too.

Liam,
Would be interested in your suppliers
I live N Leics but work south so no problem with travel

Failing that I'll follow Ray's suggestion - I don't like using e- bay if I can avoid it however

Doug- I've already tried the add on closers & don't like them, thanks.
