Hi all,
I'm new to this site, and new to scroll sawing,
just been looking at saws, and I wondered what you thought of the
( SIP 16" Vari Speed Scroll Saw 240v ) and can you tell me what sort of blades it uses, flat or pin end,
or if you don't rate this saw, can you tell you tell me what you recommend
thanks..
David

Hi David, welcome aboard :D
Don't know about Sip Scroll saws , but it looks just the same as
the schappach to me :? if so it will take both pinned and flat /plane blades,
( i only know, because i saw one at Harogate last week )
But if it won't take flat/plane blades , and you need to do a lot of inside cuts and fretwork, then forget it --------! i use a delta ( no longer available. i think) but blade changing /threading is dead easy.
ebay is a good place to look !!!!

Hi David,
I bought the SIP 16" variable speed saw last year, and use it constantly!
It WILL take pinned and pinless blades.
It holds the pinless blades with a bolt clamp, and is supplied with a T-wrench hex key to tighten the top and bottom bolts.
The saw is very quiet at low speeds, and is so free of vibration, that you don't need to bolt it down!
Mine was about £70 last year, but they've gone up to about £90 now.
Still well worth it!
You'll have fun with it....
Bruce
By the way, hello Frank, nice to see you again...

Hi, Welcome to the forums. The SIP is generally considered a good introduction to scrolling, above the cheaper taiwanese imports at the cheaper level of the spectrum. A forum search will help you with information as this has been asked about and recommended a few times before.

Steve.
