Just finished this one. Bit of a rush job so no WIP's I'm afraid. Simple joinery nothing startling but had to build it as a self assembly job to get it on site. Will be the new home of Scramble, Poach, and Fry. Can you tell it is for a woman? Used up some old shiplap I had left and a couple of lengths of pine. Customer was very happy with it. Not quite up to Cranbrooks style but acceptable I think.

oh very nice. How did you handle fox prevention?

Very nice Mailee. How do you clean it out, does the roof lift off or is there a larger door. I presume the nest box lid lifts to hopefully collect all the eggs.

It stands 39" high and is 48" wide by 36" deep not including the nesting box. I read that the chickens need about 1sq foot each so I gave them a little more. :) Inside there are removable bays for the the nesting area and a two level shelf for the chickens to sit.

Given the option chickens would use a perch rather than a shelf to roost. I believe that they feel safer on a perch, as they have the inborn yen to roost in trees out of most predators way.

I'll go with Dennis on his comment Mailee, a perch rather than a shelf. I normally put a loose tray underneath to catch droppings then lift the tray out and dump the contents on the compost heap.
An extremely nice job though.

Roy.
