I am almost too embarassed to tell this tale but i need some advice.
After building my workbench and putting on removable wheels I found I had enough space for a bandsaw. So i purchased one from ebay. It is the same (identical to a perform ccvvb (the bigger florr standing model)). I picked it up a week ago but i decided not to do anything in a rush and i ordered a new blade, which arrived yesterday morning.
I finished work at 4pm and set to work to set up the saw. Following advice from this forum and the web i set up the saw. I lubricated all locations removed built up dust etc and religned all components. This all went well!
Switched on the saw and fantastic, cuts like a dream i cut cautiously at first and then progressed to a four inch piece of wood producing 2mm veneers perfectly. I then cut the face for my vice in beech great (leaving the guard at four inch) i walked across the floor to check the size with the saw running (embarassing i know and foolish).
BANG BANG
The offcut of beech has walked on the table to the blade jammed up (4inch by 1inch piece) between the guard and the zero clerance plate shattering the zero clearance plate and chipping a bearing.
I have ofcourse turned the saw off. At this point i am close to tears, but it got worse. I religned all the bearings and other settings back to how they were and set the saw off again.
AAAAAARGGGGHHHHH
The blade is now tracking back and forth on the wheel like a mad thing. WHAT HAVE I DONE??????
I changed the tracking bar which was slightly bent but this only tilts the wheel back and forth. The problem is still there i can only assume i have bent the axle/bearing is this possible??
Is it the top wheel or the bottom wheel, tracking is the top wheel. I cannot detact the wheel being out but i probably wouldn't be able to tell.
What do i do??
Can i replace these bits or is it the bandsaw in the bin??
I cannot believe i have been this stupid i have only had 20minutes use!!!
The tyre is ok, bearings ok apart from one side bearing. Any advice will more than greatfully recieved please help me!!!
Feeling very, very, very stupid.
