I am hoping someone can help me get the vice on my new bench working properly. Its brand new, and I separated the jaws to fit the wooden overcheeks and i am sure I put it back together how it was, but its not working properly, so I have missed something. Its a york i think, from Axminster and it has a shaped weight on the thread, that in one position, lets you pull the jaw outwards. The trouble is, now it works both ways, so you cant wind it in. I can if i hold the weight in a certain position, but when you get to the point of tightening, the weight spins and then the jaw wont engage anymore. Does anyone have one these vices and can show me the correct position of the weight on the thread? I pride myself in being able to look at something and see how it works, but I cant figure this out...

cheers, mark
