I have a terrible memory Mark and missus is out. We followed the baby whisperer, I believe. It was quite young and deffo arms in.

Will check the age with SWMBO tomorrow.

One of our daughters was born in February 1963, the cold one, the snow didnt clear up until end of March.
We had no central heating in those days.
There was ice on the inside bedroom walls. (the bungalow was 12 months old)
No problem in those days for a new born baby, just wrap them up and keep them warm.
The young lady grew up tough, a boxing champion is still looking for her after she put him down.

Hi Rob.
Aside from the 'usual' solutions offered, there's a bit that can be done in respect of the boiler output and 'fine tuning' of your system.

As yours is only 10 or so years old .. its relatively unusual to find that the system has been installed 'undersized' to provide background heating only... not impossible, but unlikely.

Make sure if you have thermostatic radiator valves fitted already, that long curtains do not cover the surrounding area of the sensing head... thats an extremely common fault found, when diagnosing symptoms similar to those you describe.
Ensure a good foot to 18" of free air around the valve head's.. they work as sensors of the air temperature, not as sensors of system water temperature.

PM me if you'd like a bit of detailed help in trying to get your CH system to run at its optimum... there'd be a bit of 'Q&A' involved, but I can most probably help you out a bit, albeit 'remotely'.

 :)
