Hi all,

I've just got myself a triton workcentre. I got it because of portability, being able to take it apart and store away and also as I already had a makita circular saw.

What I was wondering is am I supposed to remove the riving knife from my makita saw and use just the one which comes with the triton? Is it safe to use both the circular saw riving knife AND the triton kerf blade? The manual says to put the triton riving metal 12mm from the blade, but obviously that's not possible if the circ saw has it's own too.

The "Overhead Guard and Support" is all that should be used on the Workcentre - see pages 8 and 9 of your assembly manual. Do NOT try to use the saw with its own riving knife still fitted. Any other questions, let me know. :)

It doesn't say that in the manual as far as I can see. The photos do imply it though :)

In fact, it goes on to say "If your power saw is fitted with a riving knife remove the small tab from the guide using a hacksaw." in the bevel guide section. That's what confused me.

Thanks Argee!

I had a Triton WS2000 fitted with the big Triton saw for a few years and was very happy with it.
The only down side is bevel cutting, you can't tilt the saw you need to buy the bevel ripping guide.
Due to moving to a smaller workshop all my Triton kit has now gone except for the saw, which I am looking to sell.
Would accept offers in the region of £100 if anyone is interested.

Martin.

Hi all,

I'm interested in getting the Triton workcentre plus Triton TA235CSL circular saw. The main reason is that I have very little space, like the O.P, so I need something highly portable that can be packed away when not in use; Triton gear appears to fit the bill, and seems to be quite highly regarded within limits.

This thread is useful, but it's now a few years old, as are a lot of other threads about Triton products, and I understand that the company that makes this stuff have had problems. What I'd like to know is whether there has been much change in the quality of triton products since this thread was started. Is this stuff still made in Australia, or has it all been farmed out to China? (I try my best to avoid buying stuff made in PRC, but it's often hard to find out until you've bought the stuff.)

My opinion differs slightly from others here. I had the WC2000 with the Triton Saw for a year and whilst there is very little vibration and the saw sits well in the table I found that after about 10 months it kept going out of true and no matter what I did I could not get the accuracy back. In the end I got rid of saw and table and bought an Axminster AW10BSB2 which I love. I think one of the problems is there's a bit too much of that red plastic being used for alignment/mounting bushes for my liking.

But if you are really pushed for space and you want portability why not check out the Bosch GTS10, Makita 2704 or MLT100 (which at £399 is VERY comparable in price to a triton plus a saw) as I believe all of these fold down and stand on end, brilliant for space saving and I don't really see the Triton as "Easy portable and easily folded away" as these three.

Hi all. I have just obtained a secondhand TRITON Workcentre 1000 but don't have a user manual to go with it. Can anyone help out?

to obtain angle cutting on the WC you will need an accessory unit which clamps to the WC.
When I had the Triton this accessory was not a complete success for furniture type work but saisfactory for general joinery.
