Headless pinner

In the next couple of weeks I need to buy an air powered headless pinner.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a make & model.

I use the axminster pinner no mis fires to date its fine for me.

Another vote here for the axminster one , ive had it a while and it works fine.

I had a look at some of the bostich pinners which were good and had the advantage of up to 40mm pins rather than the 20mm max with the axminster but they were also 4-5 times the cost as well.

"Omer" is my choice, pretty expensive but you get what you pay for.

I recently bought the makita AF201Z which works well and takes up to 25mm pins. Cost wise, it is half way between the axminster and the bostitch.

Omer make great pin guns, very pricey though. I use a 21g one a lot. I also have the Axminster one and never had a single jam-up/miss fire with it. The Omer messes about a lot.

So for me, Axminster pin guns are a good choice for the money.

Newbie first post. I want to buy a headless pinner. I am going to get the Axminster I think, seems great value.

The only question I have is that it holds 24g pins. It is the only one I can find that is 24g. All the other brands are 23g. I am worried about the availability of 24g pins in the future as only Axminster seem to do them. Do 23g pins, that you can pick up easier, fit in the Axminster please? The thing I like about the Axminster is that it doesn't have a safety tip were you have to push on.

My other choice is the Makita AF201Z but I can't find out if it has a safety tip you have to press down on to activate. Anyone got one of these?

I've got the makita which is a good tool - can't remember if it has the safety tip to prevent false firing. Cant imagine why you would want a tool without a safety tip - they don't mar the surface and I sure wouldn't want a 23g or 24g pin flying around the workshop.

I saw a video of the Bostitch pinner and it didn't have the push down safety tip so you could hold it from the surface and leave the pin proud so you could pull it out when the glue had dried.

We have the Makita AF505. It does have a safety push-down tip and takes up to 40mm pins. It's been fine till we cracked a 130£ double glazed unit, but I think this was user error in a rather awkward moulding.

Buy cheap buy twice lol, still thinking the makita as more choice of 23g pins rather than Axminster only place I have seen with 24g.

Still haven't decided which one to get, Axminster or Makita AF201Z. Got some 23g and 24g pins and they seem identical. Shy tot, which one did you get in the end? I still don't want a safety tip to press down on to trigger. Want to be able to fire pins leaving them proud of the surface.

Gone with the Axi one. They haven't got any of the small compressors in stock until April so I have had to go bigger but as I will be pinning continuously it is better. Thanks for all input.

I know this is an old post but I have a similar question. I have the Axi pinnerwhich works fine, but I did replace the firing pin as it rounded over and started misfiring. I have a job that I need stainless pins for and can only find 23g ones. Does anyone know if these fit the Axi one ?

Thanks Richard. I have checked with Axminster and thru say they don't stock stainless pins so maybe discontinued now.
